Dapagliflozin

Dapagliflozin (brand names like Farxiga/Forxiga) is an SGLT2 inhibitor medication used for Type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) to lower blood sugar, reduce cardiovascular events (like heart attack/failure), and slow kidney disease progression, working by making kidneys excrete excess glucose in urine, thus reducing blood volume and heart strain. Common side effects include increased urination, dehydration, yeast/UTI infections, dizziness, and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), requiring hydration and good hygiene, but serious risks like necrotizing fasciitis are rare but serious.
