Haloperidol

Haloperidol (Haldol) is a first-generation (typical) antipsychotic drug used for schizophrenia, Tourette's syndrome, severe agitation, and delirium, working by blocking dopamine in the brain to manage psychosis, but it carries risks like extrapyramidal symptoms (movement issues), QT prolongation (heart rhythm), drowsiness, and orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure upon standing). Patients must take it exactly as prescribed and not stop abruptly, as it can help control symptoms but not cure the underlying condition, requiring careful monitoring for side effects, especially heart-related ones
